Here it is! New Video Tutorial - Watercolor Wash Backgrounds for Cards

Yay! Finally! Today I have a new video tutorial on these watercolor wash backgrounds I've been making lately! My followers have been asking to know more and some wanted to see the process! I've been wanting to make a video tutorial for a while and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to get back on track!  The background I'm painting on the video is based on the ones I used for today's cards. I got new watercolor colors and I've been playing with warmer washes. I love how easy it is to finish a card when you use a watercolor wash... I love adding bold images and sentiments foiled on vellum. These sentiments are actually from my latest digi stamp release on Etsy and I think they look perfect on these backgrounds. I am not using watercolor cardstock today, instead I am painting on metallic cardstock. This cardstock is called Cryogen White Iridescent and it is carried by Paper Temptress . It has a subtle shimmer and when your watercolor dries th...

Watercolor Wash Backgrounds & Big Foiled Butterflies + This month's Winner

A few weeks ago I tried out new watercolors -those that come in tubes-. I was surprised to learn how pigmented they are and how much they allowed me to play with the colors, blending them to create beautiful washes. Well, that is exactly how today's cards started off! This month's release at the shop was very special to me, because it is my birthday month and we had a special bonus stamp release ( Pray Digital Stamp Set ). I have been so technique driven this month that I based my stamp choice for today purely on how I wanted to finish off these backgrounds. I used 3 colors for this watercolored wash: Ultramarine, Rose and Purple Pale. These stunning butterflies are from a set called Persevere -available now on Etsy-. I printed the butterflies on vellum at around 3.5 and 2.5 inches (using Microsoft Word to resize and arrange my print), using a laser printer. I then foiled them at low temperature with a Silver Deco Foil Transfer Sheet. I fussy cut each butterfly and at...

Tone on Tone Stamping & Coloring - Stunning Mason Jar Bouquet Stamps

Today I'm sharing my first card using one of Sweet 'n Sassy's new stamp set   Mason Jar Bouquet ! This set is so pretty, so versatile and is perfect for coloring. I stamped the flowers in hot pink dye ink and colored them in the same color, to create a tone on tone effect. I have been using watercolor markers to color a lot lately and I've also been drawn to bright, summer colors. I watercolored this flowers in hot pink using very little water and added a fresh green on the leaves. I decided they would look great with a few green leaf die cuts. I used foam squares to give them dimension. The sentiments in this set are so beautiful, a very nice font and size. I was able to stamp this Mother's Day greeting  in black, on one side of the die cut panel matching the rest of the card design. The images are so striking and pretty I really didn't need to do much for my card base. I just die cut a large intricate panel, cut it in half and layered the p...

Wow! No Line Coloring with Digital Stamps May - New Release + New Guest Designer

Yes, wow! I've seen everyone doing no line coloring with clear or rubber stamps but I knew it had to be possible with digis too! I'll get into it in a minute! Today is our May Release Blog Hop and this one is extra special because May is my birthday month! We have 5 new stamp sets, 2 of which have been available as a pre-release on the shop and of course the designers have prepared amazing inspiration posts that you can't miss! I am featuring below one of our newest stamp sets: Amazing Things , that includes a lovely vintage floral image and 5 encouraging sentiments perfect for those who need hope for things ahead. I have 2 printers, a "regular" inkjet and a laser printer. Both are super useful for digital stamp printing. Laser prints allow you to foil and watercolor images without any smearing. Inkjet allows you to heat emboss on some glossy/non-porous papers and is great for copic coloring, but guess what? It smears with water... So I thought that if I pri...
