Paint Smooshing Cards with Heavy Body Paints, Grafix Monoprint Plates and TCW Stencils

Have you ever heard of ink smooshing? It consists on touching the paper with usually watered down inks to create an abstract background... Well, I wanted to try it out with paints and I captured it on camera for you too! So yes, jump this intro and click play if you must or visit my Youtube channel and watch the tutorial there. All products used were sent by The Crafter's Workshop and Grafix. All opinions stated here are my own and based on my personal experience using these products. For this tutorial I'm using heavy body paints from The Crafter's Workshop together with a tool that I had never tried before, an acrylic monoprint plate from Grafix that I think is ideal for this technique. Ink smooshing usually works using a packaging piece of acetate and that makes sense since the ink isn't too heavy for the sheet. But paint is usually heavier, even when watered down and there's a chance an acetate sheet won't work a smoothly as this Duralar Mon...

CAS Coffee Card with Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps

I love clear stamp sets, and what I try to do every time I get a new set is stamp as many scraps as I possibly can, fussy cut them and color them all. That gives me a lot of options when I'm about to put together a card. That is exactly what I did with the coffee cup stamps from Fill me Up by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. Today's card is one of those clean and simple numbers created with previously stamped pieces on an also previously painted background. You see, I find it to be extra productive to make backgrounds and color stamped images in advance and keep them in a special basket until it is time to make a card. It often proves to be a magical process when you end up finding every coordinating piece you need in the same forgotten spot of your craft room! Not long ago I shared on YouTube how I make these watercolor washes for my card backgrounds. I use student grade watercolors, but I love the results I get with them. I am also using a special shimmery metallic paper ...

Here it is! New Video Tutorial - Watercolor Wash Backgrounds for Cards

Yay! Finally! Today I have a new video tutorial on these watercolor wash backgrounds I've been making lately! My followers have been asking to know more and some wanted to see the process! I've been wanting to make a video tutorial for a while and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to get back on track!  The background I'm painting on the video is based on the ones I used for today's cards. I got new watercolor colors and I've been playing with warmer washes. I love how easy it is to finish a card when you use a watercolor wash... I love adding bold images and sentiments foiled on vellum. These sentiments are actually from my latest digi stamp release on Etsy and I think they look perfect on these backgrounds. I am not using watercolor cardstock today, instead I am painting on metallic cardstock. This cardstock is called Cryogen White Iridescent and it is carried by Paper Temptress . It has a subtle shimmer and when your watercolor dries th...
