A card I love with a twist...

Hello! There are some cards that have to be done again. The Cottage Charm card, is one of them. I must confess I'm in love with sketches that allow some sort of window layout to the card. In the case of this specific card, it's a window created by the amount of layers and the way they are placed. So today, I have a remake of the card I love, with a sketch I came up with through trial and error and a twist in the color palette. This image can give you a better idea: One very important detail is that this card is quite larger (6 1/4 " long by almost 5" wide) compared to the original one. But it kept it's charm. Here it is... DIY Pearl Pins

I´m so happy to be able to show you something that´s been on my mind for a while. The other day I went to a craft store and I wanted to buy some pearl pins. In the end I didn´t buy them because of the sole thought that someone could pinch their finger with an embelishment... Uh oh, no sir. So I remembered something, I made jewelry in my past life (meaning 7 years ago or so). I have a big box of pearls, crystals and stones... And I had the idea of making them myself, using earring pins. Take a look: So, first of all, arrange the stones you'll be using in the pin, because you have to glue them fast. You will only need a tiny drop of glue for each stone. Apply the glue and run the pearl immediately to its place. Repeat it for the crystal. If when applying the glue there is any excess, clean right away, don't wait until it's dry (it worked better for me that way). And that's about it... It's sooo easy I couldn't resist to make a BUNCH of them! These are

Butterfly Blessings / Bendiciones de Mariposa / Bênçãos de Borboleta

Hi everyone! The card for today is quite simple, clean and elegant. A feminine butterfly card with a sentiment in spanish: "God bless you". I wanted to try a multicolor embossing technique, using different colors of embossing powder in the same image. So I used silver, gold and copper. Afterwards I colored parts of the butterflies with two tones of pink to give it a twist and show the stamp's details. I really like how it ended up.  It is an easy card to make, because it doesn't require too much die cutting and layering. The only tricky part is the application of the embossing powders, since you have to be quick. Once applied to one part of the stamped image, you must put away that remainder powder and apply the next color immediately, and heat embossed. So if you're not careful, it can be very messy! lol Anyways, hope you enjoy this card. I'll come back soon with some DIY ideas I've been working on. Until then...

Cottage Charm

Hi! There is a challenge that always inspires me. The reason? Unknown. This site makes my inspiration flow in a way no other does. It is the Our Daily Bread blog. This week they have an inspiration challenge going on ODBDSLC187 based on this picture: Wow, what a beautiful color palette to work with... And so many little details to pick up and transfer to a project. This is what I came up with: In the card for today I definitely worked with every single color in the picture. I used at least 4 different layers to show them. The first layer is a vintage handwriting paper, which is my interpretation of the antique cottage decor. The second layer is the exact tone of blue that appears in various decorative elements.  The third layer is ribbon and lace; the first one, picks up that cherry blossom pink that I love, and the second one brings that doily feeling to the card.    The fourth layer is a tricky one... Can you guess what I was thinking of when I did it? S

Daisy inspired / Inspirado en Daisy

Hello everyone. I've been unconsciously or consciously channeling vintage for a while in many aspects of my life: curtains, clothes, hair pieces and of course, cards. This time I felt so very inspired by Daisy, character of the memorable book made movie four times: The Great Gatsby. The 2013 production presented so many wonderful outfits, sceneries, and it goes on... This character and Lana del Rey's song Young and Beautiful just makes you think of that melancholic and inspirational era of vintage.

Accidental Goodness / Divino Accidente

Hello everyone! So I was trying to make a distressed matte multicolor background with some pearlescent stamped flourishes...  Didn't count with the distress ink being still wet and boom! The whole background had embossing powder and once I heated it, it became a fun, shiny paper I HAD to use... So I just let it flow. I continue to deboss it and voilá... The colors in the picture appear more bright and intense than they really are. "In the flesh" they are way more pastel. I really like the result. Hope you like it. It's quite a simple card, but considering it was the divine result of an embossing accident, I'm happy with it. Have a great week!

Double Blessing

Today I wasn't planning to make a card, but inspiration strucked when I stopped by Our Daily Bread Designs blog. They have a sketch challenge going on... I sadly don't own any ODBD stamps but we are allowed to participate with one card anyways. I chose a spanish sentiment from My Pink Stamper, that translated says: "When I count my blessings, I double count you". I used Haj Design paper for these flowers, which I die cut with the Spellbinders' sets Rose Creations, Bitty Blossoms and Carnation Creations. Also from the same company I used Gold Elements One to make the flourishes and Gold Labels Four, for the window and the frame. This time I used ribbon over lace and some crystals to finish the card. And this is what I came up with: I really hope this card is good enough for the challenge . Let me know what you think :)   Until next time... Have a great weekend! Add-on: I consider this a fraternal love card, one that you can give to a sister on

Delivery Express / Entrega Inmediata / Entrega Expressa

Hello everyone, How was your weekend? It's been a long one for me, but very productive for sure. That is why today I'll be very brief. I wanted to stop by to show you a set of three male cards I was ordered to make. The lucky fellow's birthday and dating anniversary are on February, plus Valentine's Day of course. I truly enjoyed doing them, because I usually don't make cards for men. These may give you some ideas on what to create for your loved one on Valentine's. I hope you like them. Have a great week!
