Elegant & Detailed
graduation card

I was commissioned a graduation card for a Medicine School male graduate, and I decided to share it with you. I've always thought this kind of occasions merit elegant and timeless designs that the graduate can save as a beautiful memento. Since this is for a male recipient I decided to use opaque silver and gray for a monochromatic combination. I used this great sentiment which is a perfect fit for the occasion and heat embossed it in silver. The stunning die cuts add so much to the design, especially the intricate pierced elements added diagonally on the background. I decided to finish the card with grosgrain ribbon made into a simple loop and also with a few rhinestones. Hope this gives you ideas for future graduation cards you may need to make! Male cards are not always easy to make but this fits the bill nicely without sparing on the elegant feel we cardmakers enjoy to see in our projects. Before I go let me remind you of this month's challenge at House of Car...

Christmas in August?
house of cards challenge: metallics

Welcome to a new month of creative inspiration! This month our challenge at House of Cards is Metallics. Feel free to translate our cue word to your papercrafting project however you like! I used gold metallic cardstock to create a white Christmas card with some vintage like paper poinsettias. I am late to the Christmas in July movement, so I'm sharing my first Christmas card today instead! I used a technique from my tutorials (found here ) to make my flowers. The technique added texture and a very dramatic look to the poinsettias. I also played with the delicate die cuts in gold to create a nice medallion. I have to admit that I love adding polka dot embossing to my cards, so I am happy with the final look of the card.  I hope you feel inspired to join our challenge this month! I am glad you stopped by today! Until next time! Shared also with:  Simon Says Stamps Monday Challenge No Ordinary Paper / Simon Says Stamps Wednesday Challenge Anything Goes / Si...

Altenew Roses

Early this year I received a gift card from my friend Dana from Got Joy Creations . With it I got a set I had been wanting to get for a while now from Altenew, called Vintage Roses... This is a multi-step stamping set that creates gorgeous flowers. One of my new year's resolution was to make more cards in Spanish. Based on that resolution I've also decided that I should use my stamps more. There are some stamp sets that I got last year that haven't seen the light of day yet, and I don't like that. I will keep trying to find time to create cards with older sets and try to add Spanish sentiments to them too. This particular card was fun to make but I had to experiment about three times until I got the result I wanted. This set has many, many combination options and the stamped images are just stunning. I paired the floral images with a Spanish sentiment from Stampendous, that I heat embossed on vellum. I haven't made a bright floral card in a while, but I l...

Shabby Chic Delight

Hello everyone! Today I'm excited to be here sharing my first card for House of Cards . Our challenge this month is "Add a Bow" . This week the vintage and shabby team is showcasing their beautiful creations. I went for a floral, soft, shabby thank you card with lots of layers. I used papers from my recent set Keys & Roses combined with textured cardstock in soft pink, sand beige and white. I used a lot of Spellbinders dies. I layered four different labels for my focal point. The top label is actually and oval adhered to a Damask Motifs die that I cut in half. I stenciled the oval and stamped and heat embossed on it a Spanish sentiment in gold.  I decorated the card with lace and pink gross grain ribbon and added two bows (one made of ribbon and another made of tulle) layered one over the other to finish the design. I hope you like my card and feel inspired to join our monthly challenge. To play along, all you have to do is visit House of Cards , fo...
