Textured Poinsettias
monochromatic christmas card

I finally had a chance to photograph my card for today! Between rainy days and some needed rest, at last I was able to spend a whole morning in my craft room. Christmas will be here before we know it and I love Poinsettias, so today I'm sharing a lovely clean and layered card with lots of different textures and elements! One of my favorite colors for Christmas cards is pool / aquamarine. I used at least 3 tones of white and used sand / beige too. I always find that silver metallic accents compliment cards beautifully when I use this color combination! To achieve the texture on my Poinsettias I used one of my favorite non-crafty supplies: shelf liner. This shape is a bit tricky to die cut on the liner because of the flower's tiny center... Sometimes the petals may separate but you can always adhere them back to the ensemble. The accents added included pearl stamens, craft metal and metallic cardstock die cuts, rhinestones and a word bead. The white column o...

For YOU with love

Happy Monday! I have the privilege to share a card I made just for fun today, and I say privilege because I don't always have the time to make an extra card. I have been experimenting with different materials to create organic looking embellishments. My last card featured a DIY rosette embellishment made of a very common every day material. I will have a tutorial on that this week, so stay tuned and join me on Friday for all the details on that project made for Ann Butler Designs! Then tomorrow you'll see a mixed media card I created for this week's challenge at ODBD, featuring a product found at the hardware store that I used to add texture to the card. There will be another complete tutorial on that project also! But today, I bring you a card featuring one of my deepest paper crafting obsessions... Handmade flowers! I experimented with crepe paper ! Yes, that's right, the one used for party decorations. I had this idea of using crepe paper to try a new look for my i...

Our Daily Bread Designs - December Release

A new month is here and I'm delighted to let you know that once more I've been invited to join Our Daily Bread Designs for their new release! I'm having a great time creating with the beautiful new collections of dies and stamps, and I'm beyond thankful! Today the design team has a wonderful array of samples to inspire you. I have two cards to share with you all. For my first card, I made a large rosette by die cutting two frames with the Flourished Star Pattern, then cutting them in halves vertically, scoring each piece and finally adhering the pieces together. I also die cut four Gilded Gates to create two borders for the background of the card. Finally I stamped one of the many lovely sentiments from the Mini Tags clear stamp set on a mini tag die cut, which I mounted on a larger coordinating tag label. Supplies Mini Tags die set Gilded Gate die set Flourished Star Pattern die set Mini Tag Sentiments stamp set The Gate stamp set Christmas Pape...

Resplendent Christmas

Time is flying, and it seems that it'll be Christmas before we know it! So I think a good Christmas challenge is a great excuse to catch up on all those holiday cards that need to be ready on time! This week at Classy Cards 'n Such our challenge is Trim a Tree : Use a Christmas tree with Gold and/or Silver. What an elegant and classy combination for a holiday card! I decided to make a cleaner card this week, but of course as always you'll notice I used detailed filigree dies, which I find work great with Christmas designs. To make my card I die cut a frame from cream embossed metallic cardstock using the Vintage Flourish Pattern set. Then I die cut a Christmas tree from the silver back of a Delicate Pastels Craft Foil by Spellbinders with an old Christmas Tree die from my stash. I also die cut two stars from the silver foil and from embossed gold paper using some new dies from Our Daily Bread Designs. I made my card base using A2 Matting Basics A. Before adding t...

Kitties Fall Picnic

Today I'm excited to share a card I made for this week's challenge at Classy Cards 'n Such: Fall Picnic . Of course, I used many crafty goodies from CCNS store to create my card, some lovely supplies I must add! To make this card, first I die cut my card base with Our Daily Bread Designs' Vintage Flourish Pattern, and then I die cut a window on it's front with the coordinating frame from the same set. I cut an inner layer that matched the size of the card base from White Pearl Linen . I printed a piece of plaid patterned digital paper on White Pearl Linen also, and adhered it covering one third of the inner layer, to work as a picnic blanket. I aligned the inner layer with the card base, marked the window outline on it and die cut it with the coordinating frame die. The frame that resulted was attached to the inside of the card, after I aged it with Distress Ink in Old Paper, with a Mini Ink Blending Tool. The other remainding part of the inner layer was att...

Elegant Polka Dots

This week's challenge at Classy Cards 'n Such is Polka Dot Christmas ! There is an inspiration photo for you, and the colors from the photo I chose to work with were white, yellow (gold), and copper which appears on the red curtain's polka dots. As always we have a prize from the store for a lucky winner and the classiest participating card will be awarded too! For today's card I used Spellbinders 2012 Holiday Tree to die cut a window on a piece of White Pearl Linen, which I die cut next with A2 Matting Basics A. Then I dry embossed the white layer with a polka dot embossing folder, similar to Crafts-Too Dots embossing folder. I also die cut a piece of Precious Metals Craft Foil by Spellbinders in copper with A2 Matting Basics A, and dried embossed it the same way I did with the white layer. I mounted the white piece on top of the craft foil, but not before wrapping a piece of gold cording across them and tying a little bow. I adhered it all to a light brown c...

Metal Flowers and a Tag

Hello again! I rarely do two posts the same day but I wanted to share with you a birthday card I made using Avery Elle stamps and dies, combined with some craft metal and other different materials, that ended up looking so well together. It is a simple and layered/freestyle collage card. I added lots of little details around the circular window. The polka dot background is from a digital paper pack that I printed on linen cardstock. I added a 7/8" wide gross grain pink ribbon across the front of the card, vertically and started attaching all my embellishments on top of it. I die cut the flowers from craft metal instead of paper. I used Add a Little Dazzle metal sheets in Pucker Me Pink and Princess Pink. I wanted the flowers to look as organic as possible so I creased and sanded them a bit. The tag was die cut from kraft corrugate paper. To finish the design I added a vellum banner that I heat embossed with a Happy Birthday sentiment. I really enjoyed making thi...

Guest Design Team - Add a Little Dazzle

I was directly invited to guest design for  Add a Little Dazzle's design team and I couldn't be happier. Starting today I'll share projects featuring the beautiful metal sheets from AALD . Also, I will be creating projects for partner companies, so you won't want to miss a post! Today I am sharing my first card for the weekly Dazzling Diva challenge #42 : Photo Inspiration . I used a Golden Glimmer Metal Sheet for the decorative leaves. I cut them with a die from Cas-ual Fridays. I love how they accentuate the central oval. I was able to fold the leaves around the oval without them tearing. The metal is thin but very resistant. I used UHU all purpose adhesive to attach the leaves (that works very well with the metal sheets). The ovals were die cut from textured cardstock with Elegant Ovals die cuts. Before attaching the ovals to my card base I added a piece of sand beige gross grain ribbon. The background paper I used is from Fancy Pants Designs and I think...
