Summer Sunflowers

Hello! Welcome to my challenge post for Classy Cards 'n Such . This week we have a great inspiration photo! Our cards have to be Sunflower Inspired. These are truly bright summer colors in an unusual combination, at least for me. I decided to emphasize on the sunflower theme adding accents of red and green around my central image. I stamped a bunch of sunflowers with Penny Black's Flower Gallery set. I colored them with Spectrum Noir markers. Some of the flowers were stamped on a Spellbinders Classic Label Four, and some were fuzzy cut and adhered to the label afterwards. I applied Inka Gold in Yellow Gold to the sunflowers to give them a nice shimmer. I added Baby Rhinestones - Silver to the center of the flowers too. I mounted the white label on a green metallic Spellbinders Imperial Gold Label Four , and then mounted these on a red Spellbinders Classic Label Four. For the front of my card I added a piece of patterned paper from Shery K. Designs I printe

Floral Tea Box - Craft Hoarders Anonymous GDT

Hello and welcome to my second post as Guest Designer for Gloria Stengel's Craft Hoarders Anonymous challenge blog! As you may know by now I've been invited to join their amazing and talented team for the month of August. I've been having lots of fun making my projects and now is time to share my second creation inspired by the current challenge: "Button it Up!" . Crafters of every stripe are button hoarders! Buttons are pretty, inexpensive, and extremely versatile. If you are a card maker, quilter, layout artist, or anything in between, you probably have a button hoard! Buttons come in many sizes, styles, shapes, and colors, plus they are easy to store...usually in cute containers! Pull out those bins of buttons and use some of them for your challenge project! If you saw my first project for Craft Hoarders posted a couple of weeks ago, you know that I hoard vintage buttons (here) . That project itself was made to contain those buttons so I could keep them ha

Christmas Candle

Happy Saturday! It's time for a new challenge at Hiding in my Craft Room : Any Holiday! I made a Christmas card for today using a vintage digital stamp from this week's sponsor Pickled Potpourri.   Pickled Potpourri is giving away   a $7 Gift Certificate to a lucky winner! The image I used for my card is called Christmas Candle , and it's a vintage, postcard like image.     I printed the image on white linen cardstock, colored it with Spectrum Noir markers from various sets (greens, reds, yellows, essentials). The background too was colored with markers, and then sponged with Distress ink in Old Paper to darken the edges. I also distressed the edges by hand to give them a worn look. I die cut the card base from leather textured cardstock in off white, with Spellbinders Adorning Squares, and also used the same die for the first layer. This first layer was die cut from leather textured cardstock in light brown.  The second layer was die cut with S

Coastal Inspiration - Accordion Window Card

Hello everyone. This has been a very challenging week for me, physically. I've struggled with lots of back pain and have rested as much as possible. Today I was feeling relatively better, so I decided to create a card for the current Mod Squad challenge , which theme is: Coastal Inspiration. The very talented Laurie is hosting the challenge this week. So I designed an accordion window card for her!   I went for warm colors and a very classic design. I used Gina K. Designs' Little Things Duo stamp set, that I recently got from the store. I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers from various sets (Browns, Pale Hues, Essentials). To create that contour shading on the bird, I simply used the blender to remove all the browns I had colored it with first. I did use the softer tones of browns mostly. Also I sponged both the image and the card itself with Distress Ink in Old Paper .   For the front of my card, I stamped handwriting fragments ver

NEW! Printable Tea Box & Tea Envelopes

Hello there! Have you been to the store lately? Two new designs have been added... Two fun printable templates that are available now! Deena Davis, owner and designer of Ewe-N-Me Printables , and I collaborated to create a beautiful set: Gift Box and Tea Envelopes - Vintage Roses , that matches my latest paper pack release: Keys & Roses .   This set includes two different templates, a cube box and tea bags that fit perfectly inside. The box of course, is so versatile that it can be used for many other projects besides a tea box. You can also find both templates sold separately: Printable Gift Box - Vintage Roses and Tea Bag Envelope - Vintage Roses . I have a very special project I made using this set, but you'll have to wait to see it. So stay tuned and come back on August 25th . to see what I created. This project will also be featured at the Craft Hoarders Anonymous' blog (yay!). Also there will be a GIVEAWAY next week that you don't want t

Nostalgic Bird Cage

Hi! Welcome to my post for this week's challenge at Classy Cards 'n Such : Home is where the Heart is . This challenge brought me lots of memories while I tried to think of something that reminded me of home... And I remembered my mom's parrots, which were kept in large cages on her back porch. They knew our names, they sang, and even fought for our attention. Those sweet birds were given to a new family a while ago and all we were left with were the memories.  Also, when I think of the word home, a song instantly comes to my mind, a song by Gabrielle Aplin. In any case, the feeling is nostalgic, because things change so fast and it's no secret that I sometimes long for the old times at home. And my last inspiration source was a photo from The Card Concept. The colors and textures were just so tempting. For today's card I used Spellbinders dies. I used Bird Cage Two to die cut on Riccio Astrosilver Embossed Metallic and emboss on sand beige feuille

Fairy Beauty

It's time for another Hiding in my Craft Room challenge: Use Ribbon! Easy right? Our sponsor this week is My Besties and I had the chance to use two of their gorgeous images for today's card. My Besties is giving away  Four images to one lucky winner I had lots of fun coloring two images from Scrapbook Stamp Society (which is part of the same company as My Besties) called Fairy Dust 02 by Mitzi and Poppy by Mitzi . The result was lovely, since the images are so well designed. I used the out of the box technique for the fairy image. I've been drawn to this technique lately. I worked with Spellbinders' Majestic Labels Twenty Five . The images were printed on linen cardstock and colored with Spectrum Noir markers from various sets (purples, pinks, greens, pale hues and browns). I fuzzy cut the poppy image, heat embossed it with pearlescent powder and adhered it on top of the fairy image, on the right lower corner. I also applied glitter glue to
