Mother's Day - HIMCR #147

Happy Saturday! This week at Hiding in my Craftroom we are challenged to create a project for Mother's Day! This can be a card, a tag, an altered item for a gift, a scrapbook page about mom, or anything allusive to this sweet celebration!

The sponsor this week is Pickled Potpourri!

The giveaway is a $7 gift certificate!

I had the chance to use a lovely image from Pickled Potpourri called Nature's Greetings Butterfly. I like how organic the butterfly looks! Here is my card for this week's challenge:

Materials
Stamps:
Pickled Potpourri - Nature's Greetings Butterfl
Flourishes - Garden Picks, Spring Bouquet
Dies:
Spellbinders
- A2 matting basics
- Gold Ivy
- Grand Calibur die cutting machine
 Ranger embossing ink
Inkadinkado embossing powder - Pearlescent, Silver Starlight
Zap! heat tool
Merletto crystals
Bazic - Two sided tape, foam tape
Other generic materials
Vellum
Textured cardstock in bone white
Specialty embossed paper in lilac
5/8" gross grain ribbon in lilac

I started off this monochromatic card, creating my own patterned paper. I stamped a floral design in lilac repetitively on white cardstock. After that was done, I die cut an octagon shaped window on the patterned layer. To add more to the design I framed the window with a die cut from the same set and added a lilac background to it. Before the frame was adhered I wrapped a piece of ribbon around each of it's sides to create the illusion that the ribbon was crossing the window to make the bow.

The butterfly digital stamp comes originally in black, so I edited it's color to match perfectly the lilac I was using on my design. Once that was done, I fuzzy cut the butterflies, heat embossed them with pearlescent powder and added a little crystal to each of them.

Now for the sentiment, I heat embossed it in silver on light weighted vellum paper, and added some crystals to it's corners to frame it.

I enjoyed making this card so much! I hope you like it and feel inspired to join this week's challenge at Hiding in my Craftroom.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, stay creative and inspired.

I LOVE it when someone alters the color of a digi giving it a whole different look . . . and you gave them the look of elegance with your card. I can really feel like they are flying off the card. Dreaming of a White Christmas
gilded & elegant christmas card

I have a confession to make... This year I've been drawn to make white and gold Christmas cards. I can't even think of traditional Christmas colors when I want to make a project! So today's poinsettia card and tutorial translate very well what Christmas is gonna be like this December at home.

White and gold look so elegant together! Since the holidays are all about sparkle too, I used one of my favorite glitter techniques and I'm sharing a quick and easy tutorial with youHERE.

I created the background myself, layering snowflake stamps in different designs, first in a very light beige, then in gold embossing. Afterwards, I dry embossed the stamped mat with a sutile polka dot design and used a brayer to apply light beige paint to the raised pattern.

As for the very layered and beautiful center of the card, I started out with an intricate die cut (see tutorial HERE) and continued building layers, with large snowflake die cuts and finally with a large handmade poinsettia …
