Die Cuts & Vellum - Our Daily Bread Designs

Hello and welcome to our last challenge of the month at  Our Daily Bread Designs ! This challenge will run for two weeks and it's an Anything Goes with ODBD stamps . So take out your supplies and let's get crafty! I enjoyed so much sharing male card designs with you this month. I know that we papercrafters feel blocked when it comes to creating male cards, so I thought I would share as many ideas as possible, sharing cards for Father's Day and any other occasions. I hope I have inspired you to try out more male cards too! Here is another card idea that I think is very modern and clean. Vellum always adds an awesome effect to cards. I stamped and heat embossed and wonderful verse from the new Good Man stamp set on vellum. I added a bit of gold string matching the gold sentiment. For the background I added many different tool die cuts from the new Workshop Tools set, using patterned papers (also new from ODBD). I created a wide die cut frame with a soft patterned pa...

Inspired by North Coast Creations

First of all, I hope your family is enjoying and celebrating a blessed Father's Day today! If your dad is now enjoying his day in Heaven, like mine, then I hope you are taking time to remember him and celebrate his memory. Today's card is a little tribute to today's celebration, to fathers in general, since I thought this was a great male card with bright, Summer colors and stamps. I was inspired by a wonderful new stamp set by North Coast Creations , Our Daily Bread Designs sister company, an thought I would use bright colors to create a clean and simple card. This new stamp set is called Sail Away . I colored the image with alcohol markers, using various tones of aquamarine blue for the sea and light browns and red for the striped sail. The contrast is lovely and very suitable for Summer. I like this sentiment too and what I did is die cut it with a Mini Tag die  (that I find so versatile) and add some linen thread. I also cut the front panel vertically to leave...

Sharing my craft with May Arts Ribbon

Do you love ribbon? I do, and I find that ribbon, thread, lace and other gorgeous elements of the sort belong with papercrafting like perfect soulmates! Today I want to invite you to take a look back with me to a few of the projects I've shared. May Arts Ribbon will be joining us too. (Please feel at home!) Down Shabby Chic Lane I took a memorable trip down shabby chic lane to make this card and with shabby chic there are never enough layers. Yes, I went over the top with elements and textures, but I was pure joy when I finished putting this card together. I wanted to pick the blue hues from one the patterned papers of my collection, and the rest just flowed naturally. This design has quite a few mixed media touches too. Lilac Dreams For this card I was inspired by a sketch and the handmade flowers themselves. The colors I used for the flowers felt so fresh and pretty, I thought a clean design was perfect for them so I decided to add  jute twine . The contrast with the ...

Weekly Inspiration with ODBD

What are you inspired by? I love delicate patterns and pastel colors... I love to add layers and dimension to a project. I love to inspire others too! All of this things inspire me to create and motivate me to keep on doing what I do. Today I am sharing a card I made with beautiful papers, stamps and dies from Our Daily Bread Designs, using one of the new dies in an unconventional way. I wanted to create a decorative column for the background using various layers. I had been wanting to use the new Pegboard die from ODBD in an unexpected way and what I did is die cut two pegboards and cut about 1/4" from them and then cut one of them in half. The pegboard column adds a so much detail and interest to the card. Another interesting touch I added was the vellum frame. I die cut one Lacey Square from ODBD, cut it in thirds and adhere the two remainding corners under the sentiment label. This is the last thing I added to the card, and I actually had to come back and add that fini...

Vintage Blessing - ODBD Sketch

It's time for a sketch challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs . Today's sketch was so much fun to play with and it also made my design look elegant! As promised last week I'll be sharing male card ideas throughout the month. My card for today would work well for any occasion and even for a lady, since it incorporates all sorts of elements. I used 3 different patterned papers from the new ODBD vintage collection and cut two banners included in the same paper pack to add them as elements to my card. I picked black as my accent color and followed the sketch vertically. I really like the new stamp set and I think it matches the design perfectly! To see all the projects created for ODBDSLC242 or to join the challenge click here . You have until June 14, 2015 at 8:00pm EDT to join us. By participating in the challenge, you have a chance to win a $15 ODBD Gift Certificate good towards the purchase of stamps in the “stamps column” on the ODBD website, or to be spotlight...

Watercolored Bouquet

Hello everyone! I haven't been able to resist the temptation of joining the Watercolor Blog Hop being hosted by Pretty Pink Posh. I LOVE watercoloring and this was a great motivation to grab my watercolor pencils again and color some beautiful flowers. I like to mix and layer orange, red and pink tones to add an interesting touch to my coloring. I didn't apply my Faber Castell pencils directly to the image, but instead I scribbled each color on a piece of cardstock and picked up the colors using my water brush. I heat embossed these stunning flowers in gold to make the embossing resist my watercoloring. This is one of my favorite techniques because the embossing contains the watercolors and makes the task a bit simpler. Still I spent quite a good amount of time to get the shading that I wanted on my flowers. I love the result and thought I would finish the card with some vintage handwriting stamping, rhinestones, pearls and a heat embossed sentiment of vellum. I...
