Die Cuts & Vellum - Our Daily Bread Designs

Hello and welcome to our last challenge of the month at Our Daily Bread Designs! This challenge will run for two weeks and it's an Anything Goes with ODBD stamps. So take out your supplies and let's get crafty! I enjoyed so much sharing male card designs with you this month. I know that we papercrafters feel blocked when it comes to creating male cards, so I thought I would share as many ideas as possible, sharing cards for Father's Day and any other occasions. I hope I have inspired you to try out more male cards too!

Here is another card idea that I think is very modern and clean. Vellum always adds an awesome effect to cards. I stamped and heat embossed and wonderful verse from the new Good Man stamp set on vellum. I added a bit of gold string matching the gold sentiment.

For the background I added many different tool die cuts from the new Workshop Tools set, using patterned papers (also new from ODBD). I created a wide die cut frame with a soft patterned paper that I think finishes that card design nicely.

To see all the projects created for ODBDSLC244 or to join the challenge click here. You have until June 28, 2015 at 8:00pm EDT to join us. By participating in the challenge, you have a chance to win a $15 ODBD Gift Certificate good towards the purchase of stamps in the “stamps column” on the ODBD website, or to be spotlighted on the ODBD Blog at our next challenge. The random prize winner will be posted on our next challenge post.

My teammates designed cards for your inspiration too:

My wish is to continue to share male cards ideas whenever possible, but I do encourage you to break that paradigm and expand your creativity trying out different kinds of papercrafting projects. Thanks so very much for stopping by! I'll see you again very soon.

Main Supplies:

  1. Love the tool die cuts in the background! What a great idea! And you always do a great job with vellum. Wonderful masculine card, my friend! I hope you are feeling better!

  2. You have created a wonderful background with the tool die cuts!!! I never would have thought of that! The die cuts on the newsprint go so well with those papers too!!! Feel better soon!!!

  3. Gracie, what a great idea to die cut your tools with print paper and as a bg!! Love the scripture on vellum in gold! Gorgeous and very elegant! Beautiful Father's Day card (for your honey? or your dad!) All my Father's Day cards go to my sweetie now since my dad is gone along with my dad-in-law. This is really a special card for whoever you give it too!
Hope you are feeling better sweet friend!

  4. What a wonderful masculine card, Gracie, and I agree - it's good to break out of our comfort zone! I love the background with the tools, and the gold-embossed sentiment on vellum is rich! Stunning card, sweet friend! Hugs!

  5. Gracie, this is beautiful... you create the loveliest masculine cards and you have certainly inspired. The embossed Scripture is stunning, especially atop the vellum. I love the look of embossed vellum like this, but haven't done it since Christmas! Exquisite work as always, my friend. I love ODBD and look forward to owning them in the future. :o)

    Hugs and blessings,

  6. Wow! So pretty! Love the vellum and the heat embossed sentiment in gold.

  7. I love your ideas and this card is fantastic! Love your use of vellum and the tools in the background are awesome!

  8. Who knew you could make an elegant male card. This is just gorgeous. Love the vellum and embossing.

  9. Wow! Gracie this is incredible! Love how you have the tools cut in the same paper and behind the vellum!

Dreaming of a White Christmas
gilded & elegant christmas card

I have a confession to make... This year I've been drawn to make white and gold Christmas cards. I can't even think of traditional Christmas colors when I want to make a project! So today's poinsettia card and tutorial translate very well what Christmas is gonna be like this December at home.

White and gold look so elegant together! Since the holidays are all about sparkle too, I used one of my favorite glitter techniques and I'm sharing a quick and easy tutorial with youHERE.

I created the background myself, layering snowflake stamps in different designs, first in a very light beige, then in gold embossing. Afterwards, I dry embossed the stamped mat with a sutile polka dot design and used a brayer to apply light beige paint to the raised pattern.

As for the very layered and beautiful center of the card, I started out with an intricate die cut (see tutorial HERE) and continued building layers, with large snowflake die cuts and finally with a large handmade poinsettia …

Bible Journaling with Pan Pastel, Deco Foil, TCW and Unity Stamp Co.

I promised I would be back with a new art journaling inspiration project today... This might as well become a habit! This time I have a page from Psalm 31 that I handdrawn and colored with PanPastel. The softness of the PanPastel goes so well with the bible pages and it so easy to blend and color with.
I knew I wanted a bold floral image on this page. I love floral illustrations and I had to try out this Magnolia here. I handdrawn the flower in pencil first inspired by a photograph online. This time I did not feel the need to prep my page because I was not going to be using any wet media on it. Then I started shading my flower starting with a 430.5 Magenta, adding highlights with 380.8 Red Oxide Tint and 100.5 Titanium White (trying not to touch the rest of the image and only blending it on the lightest spots of the flower). I also added 470.8 Violet Tint to create a little bit of shadows but since my coloring is usually whimsical it is ok if the tones shadows and highlights are so r…
