With the new year also come new crafty tools and new techniques to try out; New opportunities in every sense and new energy to give it our best. So today I have a card for you that represents all of the above in an elegant and inspirational way.
I went for black and white, adding gold as my transition shade and the result ended up reminding me of the old 30's glamour. The Arched Elegance dies also contribute with the look of the card and since they are new to my stash I went ahead and layered them as uniquely as I possibly could.
I used so many different materials on this card: vellum, craft metal, decofoil and even acrylic paint for the monoprinted background. I started out using a 5" by 7" Gelli plate to create a gold and silver background (love the effect), then I heat embossed in silver a few snowflakes on it; I also cut the flourishes from the same paper. I die cut a few archs on craft metal (which looks like aluminum foil but it's sturdier), and layered a few other archs cut from black patterned paper. I also foiled stamped my flowers on vellum, using Stamp 'n Bond and Gold Decofoil sheets and then colored them (from the back) with Spectrum Noir markers. The process requires a bit of patience but the result is absolutely worth it! The inspiring sentiment is stamped with gold glitter embossing powder (my new favorite).
I wanted to add a few unexpected elements to my card such as the gold lattice ribbon pieces on the sides and the snowflake die cuts under the flowers that I heat embossed with Bridal Tinsel powder to add a bit of sparkle. I wanted this design to be sort of transitional, with a new year feel and a bit of a winter touch. It all blends nicely in the end thanks to the neutral tones.
Hope you enjoyed today's project. Update: I added a quick tutorial on how I foil stamped my flowers and you can find it HERE. Until next time.
