Foiled Digital Stamps using a Laser Printer
- Two Cards, Three Different Techniques -

I recently got a laser printer, a wonderful surprise courtesy of my husband who knows how much I love to foil. So yes, I've been foiling away my digital stamps on cards and today I'm sharing 3 different ways to foil your cards using Graciellie Design digital stamps from our Etsy shop!

First, let me show you how I worked with a foil resist technique to watercolor this stunning flower! First I printed the flower using my laser printer on regular white cardstock and then ran it through my Minc machine on level 3 layering it with a gold Decofoil transfer sheet. Once the image was foiled (which is quite easy following these steps), I used a waterbrush and Distress inks to watercolor my flower and because the foil resists the color applied you end up with a stunning result as shown below.

Another wonderful thing I was able to make using my new laser printer was to foil the sentiment of the card on vellum. I used a sheet of heavy weight vellum as if it were paper to print the sentiment, which I resized to fit my card, and the ran it through my Minc machine just as I did before using a gold Decofoil transfer sheet.

The third technique I worked with was creating my own foiled patterned paper! This might as well be my favorite technique since it really will save me a lot of money (if you know what I mean). I love all those foiled pads you can find in kraft and patterned papers, but this is just the best since you can turn any design on your files into a foiled background for your projects. Best of all, you can customize it!

Card made using Hope - Digital Stamp Set

Here I created a patterned paper using my own digital stamps (yes, they are THAT versatile) and printed it on white cardstock using the laser printer, which I again foiled as mentioned before using a Minc machine. The result is astonishing and it sure makes a difference once you put your card together!

I invite you to try out this easy, affordable and modern techniques on your own cards! I know you will love it too. But first, don't forget there's still time to grab my new stamp sets on SALE right now at our Etsy shop. It's the perfect opportunity to complete your collection!

Add-on: I forgot to mention the foiled butterfly die cuts were cut from Therm O Web's self adhesive toner sheets. They foil beautifully. You could get a similar effect printing your own black sheet of toner on cardstock but this one self adhesive cardstock from Therm O Web is quite sturdy and very smooth too!

    1. Yes! That is a great alternative. For what I've tried out it seems the Minc allows you to work on different materials and techniques because of the options of heat it has. I can't wait to see you try foiling on your gorgeous projects!

  8. Love it but want more details on the layering composition LOL. Love the foil. I did break down a few weeks ago and get a laser. I have the large Minc. I did start with a cheaply My Story laminator and it did work. But I wanted the various heat settings too.

Video Tutorial: Quick New Year's Card with Simple Stories & Deco Foil

I'm back with a fun and really easy to make card for the Holidays or the New Year and I have a video tutorial with Therm O Web today. I'm sure we all are rushing at the very last minute looking for tags and cards and wrapping gifts... I know I always am. That is why my latest Holiday projects have been on the quick and easy side so you can try them out if you need to! The usual theme for New Year's cards is usually monochromatic, metallic... But, what if we used colorful Holiday colors instead? Why not? Well, this time you'll see me use papers from Simple Stories Very Merry Collection. Video Tutorial This is short and sweet video tutorial where I show you how I put together this card. Really with card designing the hard part is figuring out what you want your card to look like in the end but once you have figured out what elements you'll be adding and where you will be placing them the card comes together pretty fast. So the behind the scenes may not ha
