Little Balcony Card - Cardabilities #103

Hello and welcome to a new post for Cardabilities! A new sketch has been revealed, which means inspiration is about to knock at your door with this wonderful design by Karan Gerber:

I'm starting to think these sketches are magical, because they seem to get my mojo going right away... They're so nice to work with!

Materials
Graciellie Design Paper: Keys & Roses
Spellbinders: Gold Labels Four, Classic Labels Four, Decorative Wrought Iron, Rose Creations, Bitty Blossoms, Timeless Rectangle, A2 Matting Basics A, Grand Calibur die cutting machine.
Stamps - Flourishes: Over the Garden Gate, Prima Marketing: Mini Background Polka Dot, Bo Bunny: It is Written
Inks - Ranger Distress: Old Paper, Brilliance: Tiramisu, Colorbox: Sky Blue, Memento: Rich Cocoa
Barrilito metallic acrylic paint in silver
Merletto: Pearls and vynil stickers, paper raffia
Adhesives: UHU all purpose adhesive, Elmer's glue-all, Bazic foam tape and two sided tape.
Other generic materials
Cardstocks: Linen in white, Feuille in sand beige, metallic in light blue, leather textured in light pink and off white.
Pearl stamens in light pink

It was a delight to make this A2 card. I decided I would make a 3D balcony with a small rose bouquet hanging. I added quite a few embellishments but the little contorted branches were handmade. To make the balcony stay popped up, I added a little cardstock cube as support on the back.

TIP/ To make the contorted branches I used paper raffia: 1. Open the raffia breadthwise to extend the paper; 2. Rip a piece lenghtwise; 3. Roll it with your fingers to create paper cord; 4. Then roll it around a pencil to create the curl.

I distressed the card very much, I layered many stamps and finally I added some touches of metallic acrylic paint in silver, very roughly, to add detail.

In the end I realized the balcony theme went along well with the stamped sentiment:

Happiness often sneaks in through
a door you didn't know you left open.
- John Barrymore

I hope you enjoyed this project as much as I did. Don't forget to stop by Cardabilities to see what my amazingly talented teammates have made. To participate all you need to do is create a card or project using the new sketch, follow our guidelines and link up your project.
