If you follow me on social media you've seen me share a few personal projects that I have never shared on the blog. But of course, if you read my blog you've seen hints of my gradual creative evolution into mixed media. Lately I've been incorporating a lot of art products in my papercrafting projects and it's becoming more and more obvious that I am having a serious crush with coloring and mixed media. So for that reason I decided to create a new section on my blog for all my art oriented projects. This new section will include all of my personal art journaling pages, drawings, and mixed media project ideas with the purpose of inspiring you to let go of whatever holds back your creative freedom. Mixed media has not been easy for me because I am a perfectionist and a fan of neat, symmetric designs but I have been able to conquer a few fears. I love clear stamp sets, and what I try to do every time I get a new set is stamp as many scraps as I possibly can, fussy cut them and color them all. That gives me a lot of options when I'm about to put together a card. That is exactly what I did with the coffee cup stamps from Fill me Up by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. Today's card is one of those clean and simple numbers created with previously stamped pieces on an also previously painted background. You see, I find it to be extra productive to make backgrounds and color stamped images in advance and keep them in a special basket until it is time to make a card. It often proves to be a magical process when you end up finding every coordinating piece you need in the same forgotten spot of your craft room! Not long ago I shared on YouTube how I make these watercolor washes for my card backgrounds. I use student grade watercolors, but I love the results I get with them. Mixed Media has recaptured my heart this year, with stencils, illustration, medium and above all color! The freedom it gives me to create texture and colors gives me the greatest satisfaction. Today's tutorial and project was a true experience. I will be sharing with you how to monoprint a background with paint, Deco Foil and other textures. I have a gelli plate that had not seen the light of day in ages and I decided to take it out to try out some monoprinting (which is a tremendously addictive process). The idea of monoprinting with foil had been wandering in my head for at least almost 2 years but of course monoprinting directly with Deco Foil or Deco Foil Mediums would most likely ruin the gelli plate... So I came up with a trick that allowed me to add that foil monoprinted look easily! The backgrounds turned out so incredibly textured and colorful I had to finish them off as cards with one of my digital stamp sentiments from my shop ( Always Remember stamp s

I have been having fun experimenting with the new Rebekah Meier Designs Mixed Media Medium... This medium is pure gold and there is so much you can do with it! (It is so versatile!) Well, today I have a tutorial showing you another fun way to use it with the new Gina K. Designs line of Premium Dye Inks, Premium Cardstock, Fancy Foils and Foil Mates Sentiments! Today I'm using what I think is the cutest coffe cup clear stamp there is to make a freestyle collage card! I'm featuring stamps from the sets   Fill Me Up   and  Scribble Flowers  by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps ! To make this card I went ahead and stamped as many scraps of white cardstock I could with flowers and leaves from the set  Scribble Flowers  with Umbrella Crafts Black Premium Dye Ink. This particular ink I used is hybrid and it allows you to watercolor the stamped images. I colored them with Zig Markers and a waterbrush using bright colors. Once all the images were colored I fussy cut them and set them aside. I then stamped the coffee cup from  Fill Me Up  on Kraft 100# cardstock and the heart coffee cup sleeve on Fancy Pants Designs patterned paper using the same black ink, and fussy cut those too. The final element I stamped was the mini label with little check box words from the same set and heat embossed them in white on 48# heavyweight vellum . Put

For today's card I'm using digital stamps from Sending Kindness... This card could easily become a wedding card, because of the elegant foiled finishes. Adding deco foil to my digital stamps has been one of my favorite techniques since day one. I printed the flowers in laser and foiled them with different tones of gold deco foil: Champagne, Rose Gold and Amber Watercolor. I have a complete step by step tutorial showing you how to make this mixed media canvas from scratch, using a piece of cardboard as a base!  Tutorial I used the new Mixed Media Medium by Rebekah Meier in ways I haven't seen anyone use so far, to stencil and attach Frantage embossing powder and Mixed Media Transfer Foil (also new). This technique doesn't need a laminator which makes this new adhesive an all-in-one product! Today I have another fun card idea using clear stamps from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps. The new set Mason Jar Bouquet is definetely a beauty and I wanted to stretch the stamps in the set to get different looks. So today I only stamped part of the mason jar image to make to bouquet hang from 3 corners of my card front. I stamped part of the bouquet on two corners of the card front in black using Umbrella Crafts premium dye ink. To make sure the ink wouldn't smear I heat set it well. (This works all the time for me.) I used a very pigmented set of watercolors in Rose, Purple Pale and Ultramarine Blue to create a wash across the card front. I kept layering color until I was happy with the result. I added some splatters and iridescent rhinestones to finish off the background and attached a stamped banner with a piece of Therm O Web foam strip to give it dimension.
