Have you ever heard of ink smooshing? It consists on touching the paper with usually watered down inks to create an abstract background... For this tutorial I'm using heavy body paints from The Crafter's Workshop together with a tool that I had never tried before, an acrylic monoprint plate from Grafix that I think is ideal for this technique. Ink smooshing usually works using a packaging piece of acetate and that makes sense since the ink isn't too heavy for the sheet. But paint is usually heavier, even when watered down and there's a chance an acetate sheet won't work a smoothly as this Duralar Monoprint Plate from Grafix did! You'll see what I mean when you watch the video below...
