Back to School Vintage Style - Dies R Us

September has begun! And as every 1st of the month a new challenge begins at Dies R Us! Our 13th challenge is "Back to School". I know some of you may need the inspiration to create some fun back to school cards for your kids or teachers, so I hope you can join us and play along!

As always one lucky winner
will receive a
 $10 voucher to the store

I decided to go for a vintage styled card, using some charming alphabet cards I found on Pinterest. I also was inspired by a photo from a Dolce & Gabbana children's catalogue for the textures, patterns and colors on my card. I admit I love this picture:

To make this project I die cut the card base with Spellbinders - Nestabilities - Timeless Rectangle. The little doilies were die cut with Spellbinders - Delicate Doilies. I used a classic combination of colors: burgundy, navy blue and light brown.

The cardstock used for the card base and layers is leather textured. The plaid patterned layer on the back and the little alphabet cards were printed on white pearl linen, the last ones were sponged with Distress Ink in Old Paper. The sentiment from Docerela's Teacher's Pet stamp set was heat embossed in gold on vellum. To finish the card, I couldn't resist adding a chunky bow made of 1 1/2" satin ribbon embellished with a large vintage button.

What I love most of this card is the sweet sequence of words on the alphabet cards: A for apple, B for boy and C for cowboy! So lovely. I know this is a card I would love to give my son when he starts elementary school. But I will have to wait a few years for that!

I hope you enjoyed my project! If you'd like to link up your Back to School creation please visit Dies R Us Challenge blog. My talented teammates have created beautiful cards for your inspiration too, so I invite you to check them out!

Before I go, I want to wish you and your kids a good and successful year. I hope all of you can accomplish your goals! May your families be blessed and guarded by the Lord as this new school year begins and may He also give you the strenght, skills and energy that it requires.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  3. Gracie, once again you have amazed and inspired me so! This card is just too cute...and I am going to scraplift it even though my daughter is 18years old. But since she just started her 1st year of college and her first few classes didn't meet her (or mine) expectations due to class descriptions being completely wrong, I planned on making a card or two or three or even maybe one every week to help encourage her with this new journey in her life... and this will be PERFECT for one of them. So once again, THANKS so much for the INSPIRATION!!!

Video Tutorial: Quick New Year's Card with Simple Stories & Deco Foil

I'm back with a fun and really easy to make card for the Holidays or the New Year and I have a video tutorial with Therm O Web today. I'm sure we all are rushing at the very last minute looking for tags and cards and wrapping gifts... I know I always am. That is why my latest Holiday projects have been on the quick and easy side so you can try them out if you need to! The usual theme for New Year's cards is usually monochromatic, metallic... But, what if we used colorful Holiday colors instead? Why not? Well, this time you'll see me use papers from Simple Stories Very Merry Collection. Video Tutorial This is short and sweet video tutorial where I show you how I put together this card.
