Hello and welcome to my first official post for Cardabilities. Recently I was honored with the opportunity to be part of Cardabilities' DT. Starting today I will be sharing with you a new sketch by Karan Gerber (blog owner/sketch designer/team coordinator), and a new card every 15th and 30th of the month.
Cardabilities is a challenge blog. The top five viewed cards/blogs of the corresponding challenge period, win a featuring spot during the next reveal. Of course sometimes there are prizes from sponsors too! It is an amazing place to be inspired both by the wonderful sketches designed by Karan and the DT creations.
With no further ado, here is sketch #99:
And here is my card using this great sketch:
Materials
Haj Design Paper - Vibrant Vintage
Spellbinders: Fancy Lattice, Damask Motifs, Bitty Blossoms, Grand Calibur die cutting machine
DoCrafts Xcut - Leafy Flourishes
Justrite Stamps - Ooh La La French Frills
Ranger: Embossing ink / Distress ink in Old Paper, Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick
Inkadinkado embossing powder in Glam Gold
Zap! heat tool
Merletto crystals
Adhesives: Bazic 2 sided tape and foam tape, Stanley 14 watts glue gun
Other generic materials
Homemade paste and stencil
Double end pearl stamens in pink
Pearl string beads in cream
7/8" gross grain ribbon in sand beige
2" one sided lace
Papers: Specialty metallic cardstock in pink and cream, textured cardstock in sand beige, linen cardstock in white
I started off this card by cutting and distressing the patterned layer. Then I used stencils made with a flourish die to apply paste on two corners. I made the paste following a recipe I learned from Gabrielle Pollacco (here). I added the patterned square to a metallic cardstock layer, distressing two of its corners and adhering them irregularly to create an aged effect.
I layered lace with a strip of pink metallic paper and gross grain ribbon and adhered the main layers to the card base. Then I created an irregular bouquet on the side following the sketch. Finally I added an oval tag, with a heat embossed french sentiment in gold, and some crystals.
I was very inspired by this sketch and I hope you are too! Please visit Cardabilities to see what my amazing teammates have created. I look forward to seeing your card. All you need to do is follow the instructions and link up your design.
Thanks for stopping by!
