A few weeks ago I tried out new watercolors -those that come in tubes-. I was surprised to learn how pigmented they are and how much they allowed me to play with the colors, blending them to create beautiful washes. Well, that is exactly how today's cards started off! This month's release at the shop was very special to me, because it is my birthday month and we had a special bonus stamp release ( Pray Digital Stamp Set ). I have been so technique driven this month that I based my stamp choice for today purely on how I wanted to finish off these backgrounds. I used 3 colors for this watercolored wash: Ultramarine, Rose and Purple Pale. These stunning butterflies are from a set called Persevere -available now on Etsy-. I printed the butterflies on vellum at around 3.5 and 2.5 inches (using Microsoft Word to resize and arrange my print), using a laser printer. This week the challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs is Fluttering and Flying with ODBD stamps   and here is the card I made inspired in this theme! ODBD Stamps used: Belle Vignes / ODBD Dies used: Fancy Fritillary, Fancy Foliage / ODBD Paper used: Soulful Stitches I really enjoyed using the new background stamp together with the new butterfly die cuts. I went for a fuscia color to contrast with the neutral background. Love how well the flourishes look also! This was such a nice card to create. I folded one of the butterflies to create a different look for this gorgeous die cut... It´s a really simple trick that I like to use with butterflies sometimes. I skipped adding a sentiment to the front of the card this time but I will be adding something nice inside! I finished this clean and layered design with gross grain ribbon, pearls and rhinestones. Today I'm sharing a shabby chic card I created for House of Cards . This month's challenge is to use butterflies and/or colors from the inspiration photo. I went for the butterfly theme only, without knowing where to start and after a few handmade flowers and stamped butterflies I hit it off. I am so happy with how the design turned out! The butterflies were stamped with my set Parisian Postcard released by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, fussy cut and added to the card around the sentiment's label and handmade flowers. Since I used blue for the flowers, and followed by brown for the butterflies and sentiment, I decided that my patterned paper from the recently released Floral Frames Paper Pack (available on Etsy here ) would go together perfectly. I accentuated the color scheme with a light green. I used a few die cuts to add even more texture, layering and depth to the design, after all it is a shabby chic card! This month Sin City Stamps partnered with Cottonwood Arts . I love CA's canvases and I've enjoyed making projects with them during the last months. It's been just a few days since my last post for House of Cards Challenge . Things have changed a bit for the better! Now all of us, the designers from all the different style teams, are going to share our projects for the challenge every 1st of the month on our blogs. Hello and welcome to a new post for Sin City Stamps ! This month Sin City Stamps has partnered with Gelli Arts ! What a great combination of products! I've had a great time creating personalized backgrounds with Gelli Arts' Gel Plate, and adding details with SCS stamps. It's almost therapeutic the way the projects come together, and how we have no precise control of the resulting background using the Gel Plate (a truly spontaneous artistic process).
