I've noticed that my creative process is very intuitive and usually impulsed by strong emotions, from dissapointment to utter joy... I'm learning to embrace it and that is how all of a sudden I've found myself drawing more than ever. Of course, this is not only about drawing to me, it's far more significant and spiritual. Today's art journal spread came from a place of happiness and content. I sketched my girl, left it there and came back to work on it again yesterday. Again, my heart was in a happy place when I started painting and although I didn't know the details and the story that would emerge, the final meaning of these pages turned out to be very significant to me. I guess I want to compensate for the weeks I wasn't able to share any Art / Bible Journaling and so today, for the second time this week, I have a Bible page to share. I promised I would be back with a new art journaling inspiration project today... This might as well become a habit! This time I have a page from Psalm 31 that I handdrawn and colored with PanPastel . The softness of the PanPastel goes so well with the bible pages and it so easy to blend and color with. I knew I wanted a bold floral image on this page. I love floral illustrations and I had to try out this Magnolia here. I handdrawn the flower in pencil first inspired by a photograph online. This time I did not feel the need to prep my page because I was not going to be using any wet media on it. Then I started shading my flower starting with a 430.5 Magenta, adding highlights with 380.8 Red Oxide Tint and 100.5 Titanium White (trying not to touch the rest of the image and only blending it on the lightest spots of the flower). I also added 470.8 Violet Tint to create a little bit of shadows but since my coloring is usually whimsical it is ok if the tones shadows and highlights are so...

I've always loved seeing snow texture on Christmas projects and so I decided to add it to my own projects this year using The Crafter's Workshop modeling pastes! Whenever I take a closer look at textured Christmas cards there's usually a special snow texture paste used... (I actually have one of those.) But I'll show you a way of achieving a very similiar look using supplies you may already have at home in combination with The Crafter's Workshop texture pastes. Have you ever heard of ink smooshing? It consists on touching the paper with usually watered down inks to create an abstract background... Well, I wanted to try it out with paints and I captured it on camera for you too! So yes, jump this intro and click play if you must or visit my Youtube channel and watch the tutorial there. All products used were sent by The Crafter's Workshop and Grafix. All opinions stated here are my own and based on my personal experience using these products. For this tutorial I'm using heavy body paints from The Crafter's Workshop together with a tool that I had never tried before, an acrylic monoprint plate from Grafix that I think is ideal for this technique. Ink smooshing usually works using a packaging piece of acetate and that makes sense since the ink isn't too heavy for the sheet. But paint is usually heavier, even when watered down and there's a chance an acetate sheet won't work a smoothly as this Duralar Mon...

It's time for a new tutorial with Therm O Web and today I have a second alternative you can use to create a crackle foiled effect for your Fall projects. This tutorial comes with a video so you can easily follow the process with me.  I've been enjoying using Deco Foil in creative ways lately and I love the effect it gave the leaves on this project! It really looks very organic and the way all the colors shine through is just perfect for Fall. I'm sharing a new card with Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps today and I'm bringing lots of sparkle and mixed media to cheer up your day. To make today's card I monoprinted a background with my gel press, a stencil and craft paints and once I removed the card panel from the gel press, while the paint was still wet I sprinkled glitter, mica and other beautiful texture elements that add shimmer to to the card. I made a border using a strip of patterned paper and an SVG border cut that I created and then added two flowers lightly colored and fussy cut. Finally I stamped a Happy Birthday sentiment, in beautiful cursive font, on a matching patterned paper banner. This Magnolia flower and this sentiment are from a set I designed for SNSS called  Floral Greetings.  Hope you enjoyed today's post. Until next time!

One of the things I've been noticing this year is I've been diving in the world of mixed media, willing to experiment more and being more technique driven than ever. One of the beautiful things I've come across with all of my interest is art journaling and mixed media illustration. It's so new to me, not that I didn't know about it, but I honestly thought I would never find the time or the ability or the resources... Being able to start is just amazing and so, so inspiring! That comes with a price -at least for me-. Insecurities come to light when you're trying out something new, they surface as a reminder of how impossible achieving something is. But if I've learned something in this life, it's that nothing is impossible, it may require some time and effort and patience. The key is doing what you love, sooner or later you will get there. Today is the beginning of my journey as part of the The Crafter's Workshop Stencils Design Team and I couldn't be happier. To celebrate I'm sharing a detailed step by step tutorial on these Tropical themed monoprinted and textured cards on TCW's blog .  Out of all the stencil techniques I've tried out, adding texture to stenciled patterns has to be one of my favorite things to do. You'll find glitter, embossing powder, mica as texture finishes, and it was lots of fun to experiment with all those different mediums. I'm also using one of my favorite stencils: TCW643 Infinite Lace by Rebekah Meier . I used craft paints this time and as you can see I've been into bold, Summer colors lately so I had to go for a strong color combo this time also. I'm also going to be showing you how to make a mottled foil background for your handmade cards with the new Mixed Media Foam Sheets and Foils !
