Tutorial: Monoprinting with Deco Foil and Rebekah Meier Designs

Mixed Media has recaptured my heart this year, with stencils, illustration, medium and above all color! The freedom it gives me to create texture and colors gives me the greatest satisfaction. Today's tutorial and project was a true experience. I will be sharing with you how to monoprint a background with paint, Deco Foil and other textures. I have a gelli plate that had not seen the light of day in ages and I decided to take it out to try out some monoprinting (which is a tremendously addictive process). The idea of monoprinting with foil had been wandering in my head for at least almost 2 years but of course monoprinting directly with Deco Foil or Deco Foil Mediums would most likely ruin the gelli plate... So I came up with a trick that allowed me to add that foil monoprinted look easily! The backgrounds turned out so incredibly textured and colorful I had to finish them off as cards with one of my digital stamp sentiments from my shop ( Always Remember stamp s...

Inspiration Blog Hop + Sale + DT Call & Winner

Inspiration abounds in our design team, and that is why we host a second blog hop each month to bring you new project ideas using new stamps from our digital shop. Have you visited the shop yet? We have been adding beautiful collections and I know you will find something perfect just for you! This month we released 4 stamp duo sets that the team and I have enjoyed working with because of all the possibilities, combining the images or using them on their own. For today's card I'm using digital stamps from Sending Kindness... This card could easily become a wedding card, because of the elegant foiled finishes. Adding deco foil to my digital stamps has been one of my favorite techniques since day one. I printed the flowers in laser and foiled them with different tones of gold deco foil: Champagne, Rose Gold and Amber Watercolor. I also added a rustic foiled touch to the edges of the sentiment frame using a Tape Runner XL. Of course I did print and foiled the sentiment t...

Stained Flowers DIY Patterned Paper with Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps

Floral specialty papers can be beautiful, especially when they have a metallic finish. I decided to go ahead and try to make my own using  Floral Greetings  and  Peaceful Peonies  from  Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps   and  Laser Silver Lustre paper. I stamped the flower multiple times to create a pattern. I used Color Box Mix'd Media Inx in Truffe and heat embossed it with Bridal Tinsel embossing powder from Ranger. I then colored the flowers applying a bit of Zig markers and spreading the color using my fingers. I kept layering the color until I was happy with the shading. This technique gives the flowers a stained look. The glossy paper allows the color to glide and you end up getting a different coloring effect. I used the same ink to stamp the sentiment on Heavyweight Vellum #48 and cut a banner. I decided to fussy cut 2 flowers from the remainding stamped paper and adhere them on top of a simple pink frame cut from Mountain Rose Glimmer cardst...

DIY Foil Stamped Flowers on Vellum - Elegant Monochromatic Card + Tips & Tricks

I love using transparencies on cards. I usually use vellum because of how delicate it looks. So I decided to use one of Sweet 'n Sassy's latests flower stamp from a set I designed - Floral Greetings - in a non-traditional way. You will see me using a couple of stunning papers today from Paper Temptress too! I used a quick and easy DIY technique to foil the flowers on  heavyweight #48 vellum  to create these stamped embellishments. First, I stamped the flowers using pigment ink (which works just as well as any embossing ink), and I then heat embossed the images in gold. But because I wanted to create a metal on metal effect I went ahead and foiled the flowers in silver. All I did was cover the images with a piece of Deco Foil Silver Foil transfer sheet and ran them through a laminator making sure to wrap the stamped vellum within at least 2 copy paper sheets folded in half, to avoid the embossing powder from melting completely. This trick will allow you to get a distre...

Watercolored Peony with Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps

I've been loving my Zig markers and have been using it so much lately! Today once again I'm sharing a beautiful emboss resist watercolored peony from Peaceful Peonies by Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps . I used a color I don't usually use but it sure makes you think of Summer! I'm also using a couple of stunning papers from Paper Temptress today! I do not use watercolor paper to color since I am unable to find it where I live, but I use a paper that does not absorb the water so much and I use little water and that does the trick. I'm guessing the paper (called Opalina), is very compressed or has a thin coating that makes it work well with watercolors. I used yellow, hot pink and a peachy pink to color the flowers and two tones of green for the leaves. To make the flower look even fuller I added leaf die cuts in olive green and also some ferns in Gold Metallic Vellum . The sentiment was stamped and heat embossed on heavyweight vellum #48 in gold sparkle emboss...

Beautiful Camellias - Spring Cardmaking Inspiration with Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps

Today I want to brighten up your day with a pop of yellow with this fresh and Spring forward handmade card. A splash of watercolor and some alcohol marker coloring against a clean background sure makes you dream of Spring and Summer... I used my latest stamp design for Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps,  Floral Greetings . You get 2 floral images in this set and I decided to go with the Camellia bloom this time. I stamped it multiple times and fussy cut 2 flowers and as many leaves I could. Although the background was watercolored the flowers were colored with Spectrum Noir markers in different tones of yellow. I used the flowers to frame the minimalist die cut wreath and added a few strips of blue and green cardstock to break the structure of the card front at the same time that it blends in the color palette. Finally I adhered a banner with a greeting stamped and heat embossed in gold on vellum and added some rhinestones to finish the card. More inspiration using this stamp...
